Position: Penetration Tester – Entry Level

Description: Vigilant Cyber Systems, Inc. (VCS) is seeking to hire a junior cyber security tester to join our growing team of aircraft and weapons systems testers. This is an entry level position on a team of 2-3 testers along with a test manager who will mentor and train the junior testers on the team.

Successful applicants will join our team conducting cyber risk assessments on embedded systems.

Responsibilities will include researching vulnerabilities and known exploits against systems and architectures as they are identified before the test, travelling to a test site, performing a vulnerability assessment or penetration test on site on a variety of different OT systems, mainly aircraft and weapons systems, and then contributing to a written report highlighting the findings.

This work will include classified work, and VCS will initiate a clearance investigation for any successful candidate. The offer will be contingent upon applicants being eligible for a security clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an existing security clearance.

The starting salary will be an industry standard rate, along with an extremely competitive benefits package including 25% retirement contribution (after 2 years), 100% covered medical benefits for entire family, max HSA contribution ($3,850 for individual, or $7,750 for family in 2023), home office stipend, cell phone, continuing education credit, and paid relocation. Our fringe package for most employees is between $30-40k per year worth of tax-free benefits, bringing the total compensation above $100k.

Qualifications: We believe the best cyber testers have a combination of art, education, and experience.

Art: We are looking for people who enjoy ethical hacking, finding vulnerabilities, learning new protocols, operating systems, architectures, languages, etc. We want to find cybersecurity artists that are passionate about the field, that participate in capture the flag events, hackathons, join cybersecurity clubs, and engage and enhance the cyber community.

Education: Bachelors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Electrical Engineering. Masters’ degree is preferred. Successful candidates will be required to immediately begin preparing and taking CompTIA Security+, and CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) certifications. Preference will be given to candidates who already hold these certifications. These certifications are required to start work on base.

Experience: None required, 0-3 years of cyber testing or cybersecurity experience is preferred.
