For the past eight years, Vigilant Cyber Systems has partnered with the Department of Defense (DoD) to conduct comprehensive cybersecurity testing. This extensive collaboration has equipped us with unparalleled familiarity in navigating the DoD’s stringent requirements and protocols. Our proven experience includes performing over 100 different cyber test events across 60 different military platforms, encompassing jets, missile systems, satellites, drones, aircraft carriers, and helicopters. Our involvement spans the full spectrum of the DoD Cyber Test and Evaluation process, enabling us to support defense programs from initial planning to final implementation.

Comprehensive Coverage of the DoD Test and Evaluation Process

We have experience across the full spectrum of DoD Cyber Test and Evaluation, providing support through testing organizations such as the USAF 48th Cyber Test Squadron, and USN Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR). We have also contracted directly with program offices to provide niche testing services.

Cyber Table Tops and Strategic Planning: From the inception of developmental testing, we perform mission-based cyber risk assessments. These assessments evaluate potential threats in the context of operational missions, identifying risks that could compromise mission success. Additionally, we conduct cyber tabletop exercises, simulating scenarios to test response strategies and enhance preparedness without disrupting live systems.

Penetration Testing During Development: As systems progress through development, our penetration testing efforts rigorously probe for weaknesses. This includes Cooperative Vulnerability Identification (CVI) to collaboratively detect vulnerabilities early, and Cooperative Vulnerability and Penetration Assessments (CVPA) to simulate real-world attacks in a controlled, cooperative manner. Each test concludes with a brief and demonstration for operators of the findings, ensuring cyber threats are mapped and understood against mission threats.

Operational Test and Adversarial Assessments: In the final phases, we transition to operational testing, where systems are evaluated in realistic environments. Our adversarial assessments emulate advanced persistent threats, providing critical insights into system resilience. This culminates in recommendations for enhancements, ensuring compliance with DoD standards and operational readiness.
